Our History

“Children Education & Social Welfare Society (CEWS)”

was established in Super Town Walton Lahore in 1997,, while migrated on 2000 for the sake to serve humanity of underprivileged areas of Bedian Road Lahore, through rehabilitating a ghost Government’s Primary school Chung Khurd, Bedian Road Cantt. Lahore. It’s an inspirational history in Pakistan for global community to follow, that the CEWS conducted there a Silver Jubilee Seminar on 19 December, 2021 which was chaired by the Chief Justice ® High Court Lahore Justice Sardar Muhammad Shamim Khan, in that rehabilitated said Ghost Primary Government’s School up to Government High school Chung Khurd Lahore in the community, for the community and with the community. Additionally, the CEWS served various projects to ease disadvantaged, marginalized and vulnerable population of kutchiabadis (communities) of uban slums and rural areas of Punjab, Pakistan. .

The CEWS introduced a network of over 50 Community Based Organizations (CBOs) which enhanced over 10,000 local population’s capacity building to resolve their grievances with their own strategies like trained them that how to hunt a fish rather than to donate a fish.. LUMS like renowned institutions rated an extraordinary services as well years lobbying with law makers (National Assembly including Senate) a Bill passed on 17th November, 2021 for up gradation of alternative medicines (Ayurvedic, Homeo and Unani).

The CEWS even organized a legal panel comprising of Lahore high court judges ® and senior counsels through providing legal consultancy to resolve local population’s disputes at their door steps to lower burden of litigation on police department including judiciary.

The CEWS have had a credit of experience of serving multi category projects of education, health, rights, capacity building, environment, poverty alleviation and infrastructure to ease marginalized and vulnerable underprivileged population of kutchiabadis (communities) of urban

slums and rural areas of Punjab Pakistan. The CEWS served over 2.3 million in over 25 years of vulnerable and marginalized population specifically women and children.

The CEWS also extended volunteering opportunities to global volunteers of US, UK, UAE, Germany, France, India, Pakistan and so on.

That’s why the CEWS was rated BEST-NGO by the Government of Punjab Pakistan as well recommended for the biggest award of Pakistan i.e. President Civil Award of Pakistan”. Thus, the CEWS progressed from being a community based to a global level organization.

Success Stories

Establishment of a school for street children/out of school

CEWS mobilized community people to identify first of all a single issue to be addressed, people suggested most common issue in the community that is children are out of school. So, established a primary school to educate 150 those children who never gone to school or drop out from schools due to financial burden.

Rehabilitation of a Ghost School “GOVT.CHUNG KHURD BEDIAN ROAD LAHORE”: 

Community donated 3780 sq.ft land to government of Punjab, Education Department. Although, the name of the school was Government Primary School, Chung Khurd, Bedian Road, Lahore. From last 50 years every forthcoming political election, every candidate uses this site for election campaign, similarly, buffalos, donkeys, sheeps were kept. All community people were hopeless about the establishment of the school. Meanwhile, CEWS number of volunteers leaded by Malik Jamil visited this school with a revolutionary passion. CEWS first of all introduced self-help based contribution i.e. construction, renovation, plantation, furniture supply, uniform and books, stationary provision to poor students. Due to such sudden improvement caused multiplied admission of students expels from private education institutions. Day and night efforts of rehabilitation to school caused revolutionary changes i.e. mass level participation, departmental notice, and local committee formation. CEWS involved local community from first day to own and sustain the project. So, school with 215 students was handed over to local community and concerned Education Department, which is now progressed up to higher secondary level and presently more than 5000 students are studying. Its’ all due to sincere foundation contribution by the CEWS / MALIK JAMIL.

Establishment of MNCH center

CEWS established a health clinic for mother and children treatment. Managed a medical graduate and a lady health visitor to run the health clinic. Monthly medical camps were also organized. 203264 poor patients benefited of the primary health facility. Linked with other health facilities of the area and introduced a formal chain of referral system to near hospitals of the city as well.

Education of gipsy children:

Families staying temporarily on open sky places, involved low income activities i.e. balloon seller, hawkers, beggar, juggler etc. Gipsy families considers education to their children is an unaffordable activity. So, CEWS, launched a campaign of two months to convince them that the education especially literacy level is vital to know about surroundings changes and involve them to progress. Introduced a pilot school project for 55 gipsy family’s children. CEWS provided free of cost all related items i.e. books, stationary, furniture, building. First input of convincing and motivating to gipsy families children caused to change their attitude, that is why now mostly gipsy families are putting their children specially girls to formal schooling.
